Agreement of sale and purchase of a puppy or a (purebred) dog
You would like to sell or buy an adult dog. This purchase agreement includes arrangements about the sales price, delivery and characteristics, for instance characteristic of the breed and use of the dog. This is relevant in case of disagreement later on. The seller guarantees that the puppy or the dog is in a healthy condition at the moment of transfer.
This agreement also includes arrangements about the date and time of transfer. Until that moment the risk is at the seller and after that the risk passes to the buyer. That is to say, the dog may fall ill, get hurt or even die before it is transferred to the buyer. In that case any down payment will be returned.

Context
This document can be used in the following situations:
The sale or purchase of a dog can lead to unclear situations. An agreement is relevant, because it often involves large amounts to be paid. It is important that both parties understand the purpose of the buyer and the guarantees given by the seller. Is the dog sold a puppy or a purebred dog to be used as a breeding animal? In this legally valid dog purchase agreement the arrangements between the buyer and the seller are put down in writing.
What exactly is a dog purchase agreement?
A written agreement deals with a number of aspects that are often not included in an oral contract. Particularly if you want proof of the arrangements made later on, an agreement that is signed by both parties is important. The main topics are an exact description of the dog, the purpose and expectations of the buyer and the moment the risks pass to the buyer.
When to use this dog purchase agreement?
This agreement can be used in order to arrange any relevant matters. For instance if the dog is expensive or is bought for some special purpose, for instance to use as a breeding animal or to take part in contests. This model contract is a useful template. For example, a buyer can have the dog examined by a vet afterwards.
